Denise Wong, a powerhouse in the marketing arena who spent the past five years leading experiential giant George P. Johnson as president, took the helm of Midnight Oil in January 2018.  

At Imagine-owned Midnight Oil, Wong oversees 300+ people and brands including Warner Bros. Pictures, Netflix, Activision, SoftBank Robotics, Universal Pictures, EA, Microsoft, Sony Pictures Television, and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. She is tasked with fueling growth and diversifying the 40-year-old, Burbank, CA-based agency – which has received numerous industry honors including Effie and Clio awards – into new sectors.

As president of GPJ – repeatedly named one of Advertising Age’s leading experiential marketing agencies under her watch – Wong led a diverse team of creatives, strategic planners, account managers, and operations experts across the globe. An advocate of gender equality, work/life blend, and Flexible Time Off (FTO) policies in business, Wong is committed to delivering for clients and paving a sustainable and successful path for women in the workforce and in leadership positions.

A Toronto native who also honed her skills at leading agency networks including McCann, Grey, Ogilvy, and DDB, Wong has more than 20 years of experience in brand building, business development, creativity, innovation, and integrated communications strategy. Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Master Card, General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), Nissan, Acura, Dodge, Cisco, and IBM are among the major marketers to benefit from her prowess during her tenure.

Wong, a master at creating experiences for brands to authentically connect with consumers where they live and play, is adept at creating, motivating, and deploying cohesive and talented teams to boost clients’ bottom lines. A 2016 Silver Stevie Woman of the Year Award Winner in the advertising, marketing, and public relations sector, Wong has authored several thought-leadership columns in Advertising Age and Event Marketer and is a go-to expert on experiential trends in Adweek and other leading business publications. She’s also an active member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) – a global network of more than 24,000 young executives in 130 countries focused on exchanging leadership best practices and improving company, family, and individual health.

When not working, Wong can be found with her husband inspiring their 5-year-old daughter Izzi to dream big.
